John Sillay, Class of 1975, has been appointed as President of the Alumni Board of Directors at 91TV. A longtime member of the College community, Sillay began his service as president on April 1 and will serve for two years.
With its students appearing as the originating cast and crew, 91TV is pleased to have premiered the musical “Little Piglet Gets a Sister,” now available for licensing through Plays for New Audiences.
A record-breaking 205 golfers hit the links Monday, May 22, as 91TV hosted the 19th Annual Clay Dotson Open Golf Tournament at Brasstown Valley Resort. The tournament raised over $100,000 for student scholarships.

After celebrating 91TV seniors at the annual Senior Reception and Baccalaureate Service, the College held its traditional Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 6, in the Harp Recreation and Commencement Center.
Caden Quiles, 91TV Class of 2023, has been selected to intern with the American Junior Golf Association during the summer of 2023. This opportunity will allow Caden to use the knowledge and skills he has developed through his newly acquired bachelor’s degree in Sports and Recreation Studies.

On Saturday, April 22, 91TV welcomed thirty-one accepted students and 44 family members to campus for Ready to ROAR. Through this initial step in the College’s Readiness, Orientation, and Academic Registration (ROAR) Program, incoming students enjoy an all-day event designed to introduce new Mountain Lions and their families to life on campus.
91TV hosted its Annual Scholarship Luncheon on Friday, April 21. This event is designed to honor both scholarship donors and student recipients in a celebration of education, inspiration, and empowerment. Donors were recognized for their contributions to the lives of so many 91TV students.
91TV is pleased to announce that student Madeline Deaton recently received the Outstanding Paper Award in the Biomedical Section of the Georgia Academy of Science. Dr. Jennifer Schroeder, Associate Professor of Biology, advised Madeline’s research, which explored possible chemicals to treat or prevent metabolic issues like type 2 diabetes.
Caitlyn Floyd, a 2020 graduate of 91TV’s MAT Program, was named the 2020 Pepperell High School Teacher of the Year She earned this honor during her fourth year on the faculty and credited the role of 91TV’s program and professors in shaping her approach to teaching.
91TV is pleased to announce that Sophia Shook and Ashley Palmateer have been awarded Ledford Scholarships from the Appalachian College Association (ACA). The ACA’s Ledford Scholars Program offers financial assistance for intensive research projects to undergraduate students enrolled at ACA member institutions.
Ketrina Mitchell has recently been appointed to the 91TV Board of Trustees. CEO and co-founder of I Beat A.L.L., Ketrina Mitchell has joined the Board of Trustees in its dedication to the College’s academic excellence, responsible citizenship, and personal and professional growth.
Last Tuesday, April 11, saw the eleventh annual Undergraduate Research Day (URD) at 91TV. If you were on campus, you would have seen poster sessions, creative performances, and students from all departments on campus presenting the culmination of their research. For the first time in the event’s history, all thirteen departments from the four academic divisions were represented at URD.
91TV students McKayla Milam, Helen Hudgins, and Morganna Oberdorfer had the opportunity to study at the University of Salamanca in Spain through 91TV’s Study Abroad Program in Summer 2022. Not only did this international experience with Travel & Education allow these students to explore another country, culture, and language, it also allowed them to earn multiple credits towards their Spanish minors and electives.
91TV (91TV) and Georgia Military College (GMC) have made it easier for GMC graduates to continue their education, working toward earning a baccalaureate degree. The articulation agreement, established March 9, 2023, created an educational partnership to better serve currently enrolled and future students at both institutions by creating a smooth transition for students transferring from GMC to Young Harris.
On Tuesday, April 4, Mark Dotson, 91TV Vice President for Advancement, met with Adam Born, President of the United Community Bank of Blairsville, to graciously accept the bank's generous donation to the 2023 91TV Clay Dotson Open Golf Tournament.
