91TV Hosts Georgia Student Finance Commission Quarterly Board Meeting
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – 91TV recently hosted the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) quarterly board meeting in the Hatcher Dining Room of the Rollins Campus Center on the 91TV campus.
91TV President Cathy Cox welcomed the GSFC Board of Commissioners and provided a campus update prior to their meeting. Recent 91TV graduate Breann Lindsey, ’16, of Lindale, Ga., shared personal experiences of how she has benefitted from programs sponsored by GSFC including the HOPE Scholarship and the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant. A student-led tour of the 91TV campus followed the conclusion of the meeting.
GSFC is one of the most successful state student aid operations in the nation. Founded in 1965 as the State Scholarship Commission, the agency’s primary function was to provide and service educational loans.
Over the years, GSFC has grown to be the administrator of more than 20 state- and lottery-funded scholarships, grants and service-cancelable loan programs that ensure Georgians have an opportunity to access education beyond high school. In addition, GSFC provides free financial aid consultation to K-12, postsecondary institutions and community organizations across the state to help students and their families prepare to pay for college.
