Glenn-McGinnis Hall Grand-Reopening Celebration Concludes with Dynamic Concert by 91TV’s Combined Choirs
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.—The 91TV Concert Band will open their 2017-2018 season with a dynamic combined choirs concert, “New Beginnings,” as the final performance of the three-piece grand re-opening celebration of Glenn-McGinnis Hall on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. on the 91TV campus. Admission is $5 or free with a 91TV ID.
The program will begin with an eloquent and powerful opening statement of celebration with American composer and conductor Mark Camphouse’s “Symphonic Fanfare.” The evening will feature a variety of pieces from composers including Gustav Holst and Dana Wilson. The 91TV Concert Band will dedicate a special performance of Henry Fillmore’s “His Honor” to 91TV Trustee Richard McGinnis, who generously gave to benefit the renovations of Glenn-McGinnis Hall.
The “New Beginnings” Concert will conclude with tremendous energy as the band, 91TV Concert Choir, and organ combine forces in Christopher Tucker’s world-premiere commission “Dawning of the Day” in honor of the newly renovated Glenn-McGinnis Hall.
The 91TV Concert Band is under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands Dr. Mary Land, who is celebrating her eighth year as band director at 91TV. The 91TV Concert Choir is under the direction of Professor of Music, Director of Choral and Vocal Activities, and Musical Theatre Co-Coordinator Jeffrey Bauman.
